iM.Tech. - Integrated M.Tech. programme (with BCA-MCA) in AI & Data Science at IIIT Kottayam


The Integrated M.Tech. Programme (with BCA–MCA) in AI & Data Science at IIIT Kottayam is designed for individuals who meet the minimum eligibility requirement of Class XII with Mathematics as one of the subjects / Diploma, or an equivalent qualification, and who aspire to pursue higher education while progressively advancing their qualifications in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The programme provides learners from diverse backgrounds with an opportunity to build strong foundations, progressively upskill, and develop industry-relevant knowledge and expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, enabling them to address real-world challenges and develop innovative, intelligent, and data-driven solutions that meet the evolving needs of industry and society.

Curriculum
  • Curriculum is industry-relevant and globally aligned with the latest advancements in AI & DS as approved by the Senate.
  • It is periodically revised to incorporate emerging technologies, evolving industry requirements and advancements in the field.
Qualified Faculty
  • Classes are conducted by the IIIT Kottayam faculty qualified from institutes of national and international repute.
  • Short credit courses are also offered by Industry experts to nourish the skills and knowledge.
Flexibility
  • Online classes are held on weekends.
  • Schedule is communicated in advance, allowing students to plan the courses, balancing between work and academic choices.
  • Semester breaks are available for students with onsite jobs.
Live Online Classes
  • Classes, virtual lab sessions, and continuous evaluation (mid-semester exams, Quizzes, assignments) are conducted in online mode.
  • All live classes are recorded and made available for revision and reference in case of missed sessions.

Online sessions conducted only on Weekends (Sat & Sun) through IIIT-Kottayam's Own Learning Platform (OSOC-P)
Research - Industry-experienced faculty of IIIT Kottayam will be handling the courses
In line with the National Education Policy 2020, the programme offers the flexibility to exit at multiple levels - BCA level, MCA level and Integrated MTech level
Examination & Campus
End Semester Examination and Final Project Review in Offline Mode
(The offline exam centres will be the Main campus (IIIT Kottayam), Off-Campus centre in Trivandrum or Exam centres in Bangalore, and Kochi, subject to the availability of sufficient candidates.)
A continuous evaluation (mid-semester exams, Quizzes, assignments) are conducted in Online mode over convenient and regular intervals using Own Learning Platform.
Optional 1 week on-campus visit per semester

Our innovative iM.Tech. programme in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science is designed to prepare students for a rapidly evolving, AI-driven world where data and intelligent technologies are transforming every industry. With an industry-relevant, globally aligned, and dynamically updated curriculum, the programme enables students to build strong foundations in AI, Data Science, and emerging technologies.

Admission Procedure Eligibility Criteria Curriculum
Programme Structure
  1. Programme spans across 12 semesters (6 Years) – SEM I to SEM XII comprising of three levels – BCA level (SEM I through SEM VI), MCA level (SEM VII through SEM X) and Integrated M.Tech. Level (SEM XI through SEM XII).
  2. Candidates can enter the programme only through admission to the BCA Level (SEM I). The direct entry to the MCA or M.Tech. levels is not permitted [No multiple-entry options].
  3. Candidates admitted to the Integrated MTech. (with BCA-MCA) will have the flexibility to exit at the following levels:
    • Learners who have successfully completed SEM I through SEM VI and opt to exit at this level can receive a BCA degree in AI & Data Science.
    • Learners who have successfully completed SEM I through SEM X and opt to exit at this level can receive a BCA degree and MCA degree in AI & Data Science
    • Learners who have successfully completed SEM I through SEM XII can receive a BCA degree, MCA degree and Integrated M.Tech. degree in AI &Data Science.
  4. Maximum duration for completion of the programme is 10 years.
  5. Medium of instruction, assessments, project reports and examinations is English.
